PROJECT 1
_
WEEK 3-14/04/2021

According to Film Studies and Cinematography, students are asked to design characters related to their stories. Below is my first draft:

Fig 1.1 First draft
Since the story is that a girl puts on a blanket as a princess dress, I drew the character's costume as a blanket as well. But the advice given by the lecturer is that the design of clothing needs to be strengthened and improved. However, I changed the story line and replaced the characters with two cute hamsters.

Fig 1.2 Second draft
Unfortunately, Mr. Martin thinks that the hamster story has deviated from my original concept. Although there is no problem in continuing to use the hamster character design, I think the modified story is more suitable for humans rather than animals.

Character description (elder sister-Ling):

She has long black hair and a pair of watery eyes. Always think of a lot of fun ideas and like

to play with her younger sister.
External: tall and thin

Internal: Smart, funny, optimistic

Character description (younger sister-Ting):

She has short hair with bulging cheeks, and a little gleaming eyes. She is scared of the dark

night so the room has a night light. When people call her a princess, she blushes.

External: Round body, short, cute

Internal: Timid, shy, introverted

Below is my third draft:

Before doing 3-quater character build in Adobe Animate, I first drew a draft in Photoshop, and then used pen tool to build the character in Adobe Animate.

WEEK 4-21/04/2021

Because of the need of the film study's storyline, my character needs to be further changed. Although MS jen said a bit of difference shouldn't be an issue, but the new changes were not big, so I changed my original role.

Character description (elder sister-Ling):

The role (ling) is the elder sister in the story. She actually likes to play the princess role, but she who loves her younger sister is more willing to let her younger sister become that princess. She is very active and often thinks of many fun things to play with her younger sister. In addition, she likes the story of Sleeping Beauty, so she likes to wear the same pink dress as Sleeping Beauty.
External:  Slender, rosy cheeks, smiling eyes, love to wear pink dress, sweet

Internal:  energetic, love ,extroverted, funny, optimistic, flirtatious

Character description (younger sister-Ting):

The character (ting) is the younger sister in the story. She likes to imagine that she is a princess. She is obedient and likes to play with her sister. She thinks her sister is like her knight. In addition, she likes blue dress as Cinderella's dress. She is scared of the dark night so the room has a night light. When people call her a princess, she blushes.

External: princess doll, princess crown, Chubby face, short, cute

Internal: Timid, obedient, Imaginative, Introverted

WEEK 5-28/04/2021

Since the walk cycle of Project 1 only requires one character, I chose the character Ling.
Before I started, I did a rough animation.

FEEDBACK:
Ms. Jen said that the problem is not big, it just needs to adjust the angle of two of the feet in two frames.
